Easter Sunday

We are still not allowed to mix indoors so we are having Easter Sunday lunch in the back garden in our party tent. James and Ileana are coming over and the sun is coming out. Turning out to be a very nice day.

Burns Night (virtual)

As we are back in lockdown we cannot let a good celebration being spoiled so we are having a “virtual” Burns night. We meet up at 7pm for a zoom conversation and narrate some Burns poems, we then all adjourn for home prepared haggis, neeps and tatties followed by cranachan and reconvene at 9pm for the rest of the evening. Almost as good as the “real thing”.

Burns Night

It is the 25th January and we are celebrating the birthday of the great Scottish bard himself. We meet with a group of friends and have “Cock-a-leekie” soup, followed by Haggis with tatties and neeps. All washed down by copious amounts of whiskey. An entertaining evening.

New Year’s Eve

We are having a small party tonight (11 people) and each one is bringing a dish. We spent the evening talking, drinking and playing games and are surprised that it is already close to midnight. We wish all our friends and family a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

The Blind Fiddler – Anstey

Another weekend coming up and this time is is a visit to “The Blind Fiddler” in Anstey. We have read many good reviews about this pub, Tucked away in deepest Hertfordshire we arrived at 8pm on a dark, wet  and windy evening and were greeted by open fire and reasonable busy pub. We ordered the meat platter from the smoker which was a delight to eat. Succulent meat and huge portion. We certainly will come back here in the future.
